Society for Family Health

Society for Family Health (SFH) Rwanda was established in 2012 following a partnership arrangement between Population Services International (PSI), the Government of Rwanda (through the Ministry of Health) and USAID.

SFH is a national health organization dedicated to improving the health of people in Rwanda by focusing on serious challenges. These include family planning, HIV and AIDS, barriers to maternal health, and the greatest threats to children under five, including malaria and malnutrition. SFH also works to strengthen the health system in Rwanda.

SNV Rwanda

SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation that makes a lasting difference in the lives of people living in poverty by helping them raise incomes and access basic services. Save Generations Organization

Save Generations Organization (SGO) is a Rwandan National NGO dedicated to protect the rights of children, youth and women, prepare, empower and equip the future generations.

2015: Yvette Nyinawumuntu to achieve her longtime dream established Save Generations Organization (SGO) to restore hope for young girls and boys who had dropped out of school and devoted to Drug abuse/addiction and sex work/prostitution due to social and economic problems in the neighborhood of Kigali city in Rwanda. Through rehabilitation process, sponsorship program and livelihood program, 43 Youth (2boys/41girls) from poor families who had issues of sexual abuse and exploitation, teen pregnancy and unwanted pregnancy had access to psychosocial counseling, education and health care.

2016: SGO was awarded a legal personality from Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), number: 008/RGB/NGO/2016.

2017: SGO received funding partnership from A bridge for Girls Fund: a number of girls have been enrolled back to school and others engaged in vocation skills development and formed cooperatives for income generation and livelihood improvement.

2018: SGO won a funding award from Kvinna till Kvinna to empower adolescent and young girls in school on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for teen pregnancy prevention and girls’ rights promotion.

Rwanda Education Board

The vision of the Rwanda Education Board is to improve the quality of basic education through curriculum development, development and management of teachers, assessment, and promotion of the use of information and communication technology in education.

Its mission is to fast track basic education development in Rwanda by designing and delivering high quality free 12 years of basic education for all children of school going age.

Its responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to determining education policy
  • Coordinate and fast track education programmes and activities aimed at providing all categories of Rwandans a qualitative education
  • Design and distribute curricula, teaching materials, guides, methodologies and establish teaching methods for nursery, primary secondary, specialized schools and adult literacy education in accordance with the current educational development
  • Promote the use of information and communication technology in education
  • Coordinate programs and activities aimed at developing teachers, building their capacities and improving their management
  • Establish regulations determining how national examinations are conducted in various levels of education, except in vocational and technical training and in higher learning institutions
  • Cooperate and collaborate with other regional and international institutions having similar responsibilities
  • Advise Government on all activities which can fast track education development in Rwanda

Mizero Care Organization

Mizero Care Organization (MoC) is a Rwandan Non-Governmental Organization since 2013.

It aims at supporting youth to overcome psychological problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and be a beacon of hope to society. The organization was recognized for its role by HE Jeannette KAGAME, the First Lady of the Republic of Rwanda and chairperson of Imbuto Foundation together with the Ministry of Youth (Miniyouth currently known as MyCulture).

Kigali Hope Organization (KHO)

Kigali Hope Organization (KHO) is a youth civil society organization whose members and beneficiaries are young people living with HIV. The organization is registered by Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) and the registration number is 466/RGB/NGO/12/2018. KHO is the only network of young people living with HIV in Rwanda.

KHO Strategic Plan’s focus rests on the following long term goals: Reduce New HIV Infections among Youths in Rwanda, AIDS Impact Mitigation, Human Rights Promotion, Advocacy and Social Welfare, Capacity Building and Organizational Development. KHO has been and is still a unique youth led organization at the front of fighting against HIV and human rights promotion, advocacy and social welfare of young people living with HIV in Rwanda. As a result KHO is a global fund youth community board member here in Rwanda.

Vision of the Organization
Kigali Hope Association’s vision is to see a nation where youth infected and affected by HIV are at the frontline in HIV response, their rights are recognized, their involvement in HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support meaningfully respected to enable them to contribute towards an HIV-free generation.

Mission of the Organization
Improve lives of young people infected and affected with HIV through advocacy, primary prevention, positive prevention and HIV & AIDS impact mitigation as well as deliver the place where every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

Objectives of the Organization
Kigali Hope Organization (KHO) has the following objectives:
1. To advocate for the rights and welfare of young people living with HIV.
2. To reduce new HIV infections among young people through empowerment and psychosocial supports.
3. To educate HIV positive adolescents and young people on the benefits of positive prevention.
4. To strengthen the social and economic status of youth so they can take an active role in development.
5. To enhance primary prevention and sexual reproductive health education among young people.
6. To promote gender equality and positive attitudes towards non-violence practices among young people in Rwanda.
