The Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) was created in January 2011 with the vision to become a center of excellence for the prosperity of the country, ensuring quality health service delivery, education and research. With the mission to promote quality affordable and sustainable health care services to the population through innovative and evidence-based interventions and practices, RBC is the first point of contact for social and behavior change activities in Rwanda.

With a vision to pursue an integrated and community-driven development process through the provision of equitable, accessible and quality health care services, the mission of the Rwanda Ministry of Health is to provide and continually improve affordable promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care services of the highest quality, contributing to the reduction of poverty and enhancing the general well-being of the population.

Rwanda establishes a national Health Research Agenda (NHRA) every five years to guide the conduct of research according to set priorities. It is paramount to regularly map all research as per the priorities first, to ensure monitoring the progress of the current NHRA implementation and second, to set the baseline for future NHRA.
